Hi I am wondering if anyone has done any testing on conversion rates for phone calls. I have a new website and I want people who visit to call a number which displays prominently at the top of the page. I am using the text "call now 1300 999 999". Is this the best call to action? Or, should I use something like: call phone now call for free consultation dial etc. I will be interested in your thoughts. Thanks.
Hi, I would just test different call to actions, and see which one converts best You could allso see similar sites that are popular, one o can think of is Dominoes, and see what their call to action is, as it has probably been tested to hell! Coolmoss!
I agree with testing the opening word - it depends on the language your audience responds to. I would further suggest that you analyze the ending of it - why they are calling you. Add a little closer to the end "Call 1300 999 9999 to get started", or get more specific "Call 1300 999 9999 for a free consultation with a trained fitness instructor" (for a gym). Or work a promo into it "Call 1300 999 9999 before September 1st and save 20%". I would focus on the end more than the beginning. People need to know why they are calling you. I get very few calls from people who say "Hi, I saw your website". I get a lot more from people who say "Hi, your website said to call to get a free starter kit", or whatever other reason I give them to call.
If your goal is to get your visitors to call your phone line then you really have to offer them something that would increase their motivation to call you. Most internet surfers are just looking around and aren't interested in making that extra effort to make a long distance phone call. You can increase your chances of them calling you by simply offering them something that has value. If you are a weight loss website you could offer something like "Call now to get your free guide on losing weight in 5 weeks". You must give them a reason to call or otherwise nobody is going to be willing to make the call.
