i use blogspot for thehockeyherold.com. but i am having trouble changing the template so i can put some ads on the left and they keep that annoying thing on the top of my site. anyone else use it?
yes i think there is a plugin for this . in my wordpress (hosted by me) i can see the option Import : RSS Import posts from an RSS feed Movable Type and Typepad Imports posts and comments from your Movable Type or Typepad blog LiveJournal Import posts from LiveJournal Textpattern Import posts from a Textpattern Blog Old Blogger Import posts and comments from your Old Blogger account Greymatter Import posts and comments from your Greymatter blog Dotclear Import posts from a Dotclear Blog
There are migration scripts out there. I just went through a migration from my old blogger site to a hosted solution using Wordpress. Are you on old Blogger or new Blogger?
http://www.blogurple.com is pretty good if you like wordpress. They have a lot of free plugins and they do not put any ads on your blog.
im on new blogger. currently i dont host the site myself. i do however have the option but i choose the just link the domain to my blogspot domain. so whats the best was to get all my content from new blogger to wordpress?
my vote goes to blogger.com too but you are on wrong forum you must ask this on content management or blogging forums
1. create a wordpress blog (wordpress.com or host your own) 2. go to admin area --> manage --> import --> blogger
There's a big difference between free-hosted Wordpress (wordpress.com) and self-hosted Wordpress (wordpress.org). The free-hosted service do not allow much template modifications, and neither do they allow ads on their blogs. If you are not willing to pay for hosting, then Blogspot is a good choice - it even integrates Adsense in their control panel. However, self-hosted Wordpress is the way to go if you are in it for the long term. It just offers so much more customisation possibilities.
If you're really serious about blogging try to buy a domain and a host and install a wordpress on it.
wordpress is free!! hosting and domain will cost you a few $$, not too much! am planning to get a wordpress blog myself, just the domain name search is going on right now
