Best bet for long term revenue?

    Hey guys,

Bit of an odd question... I'm a pretty good content writer and I already mess around with my own blog which I've got no interest in trying to monetize.

I wanted to created another wordpress blog and domain and focus on a niche of providing casual/indie game reviews and news. I can put quite a bit of time and effort into it.

Then I found hubpages. I've heard reasonably good things about the service. Do you think it would be better to use them rather than make my own blog, or not?

That's in terms of both money and time. I'm not looking to become a millionaire, I'd just like a tiny but steady form of income that I could build up rather than having to rely solely on clients :]

For long term success and revenue, you need a topic that your not going to get bored with. Then try to pick some kind of community software that can become self supportive. Meaning that you will have members to post new content all the time. Websites like this include forums, multi-user blogs, and social networking sites.

When you have your own blog, and its on a topic that you picked just because it was the "hot topic of the day" - your going to lose interest. The "hot topic" will fade away sooner or later. This is why life changing topics are much better to build a website on. Topics in this group include cancer, divorce, HIV-AIDS, death of a family member or close friend, adoption,,,, the list goes on and on.

Pick a topic that really interest you and has affected your life in one way or another. Then decide what kind of community you want to build around that topic. Whether this is a blogging community built around Word Press Multi-user, or a forum or even a social networking site. Once the community is established, it will become self supportive. Meaning that when you do not want to post content, you will have members to keep the community active.

I would create a blog just simply because then its all yours, you can do what you want, make it look like you want and monetise it like you want.

I would create a blog on my own domain, and use hubpages etc as feeder sites to my domain. Hubpages are good for marketing, but your building someones' brand. These are good secondary sites to drive traffic to your main site.

Also use your blog to actively gather feedback from your visitors, as well as from other forums and social networking sites to find emerging trends or vacuums in your niche. These can become features in your blog or social community site as ~kev~ was saying.

Look for good payout and well converting offers, create wordpress blogs and outsource 20 articles for each blogs. Long your offer with banners and text on every post, submit every articles to articles directories and let it run. Should do the job!
