I want to make this a big thread for all people looking for a HOT debate on the best player of all time in basketball history is! We will even include the lesser ABA, NCAA, Streetball, AND WNBA. I believe overall for CHANGES to the game it is HANDS DOWN George Mikan! He is the reason for the "shot clock", "goaltending", "the paint being widened", the "10 second ball posession rule", and MORE! Jordan had an ERA...but Mikan had an almost CENTURY SPAN! You guys take your hits...let's make this a big debate!
You make a strong argument. I know it's a safe choice, but I have to go with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. A dominating center, like Mikan or Abdul-Jabbar, change the game in ways that a skillful guard or forward cannot. Like Mikan, Abdul-Jabbar was a winner, winning multiple championships at every level.
I agree completely...in different cases...Kareem was literally all you could ask for with a center, even in his 40s he was still putting up a 2nd round drafts numbers! Mikan helped create the rules, Kareem played magnificently with them...AGREED?
The GOAT was from a movie. I know it was based on a real story but he was never really tested in the NBA. I would still vote Michael Jordan because he changed the game and became a Legend. There was no other player that dominated any stat in the NBA.
Michael Jordan of course. It is too bad that Jordan got himself suspended for 2 years for gambling and the league covered it up. If he wouldn't have gotten suspended, the Bulls would have won 8 championships in a row!
