ezinearticles.com works for me much better that others. What I have done: 1) Manual submitting to >=PR5 2) Bulk submittion with 3 different submit services. In terms of results, e.g. ranking in SE on certain keywords, well, I think (1) and (2) are comparable... But I still submitting using both options (1) and (2). Why? Because, I think, even not very profitable article sites will bring me some SEO effect in future. I'm trying to supply them with unique content, e.g. changing titles, some parts of articles and so on.
I agree with you..that is the most effective way to submit articles...I submit to 4-5 main sites manually and then use article marketer for bulk submissions.

You may want to add goarticles.com. Good for SEO and the control panel is also great.I have seen articles posted there appear in SERPs.

I also use article marketer, but it's a pain... I prefer Isnare for bulk submission. Buzzle.com is not bad.
