i am looking for the best urgently::

there some virus in my laptop, after some struggle i have forund its name 'virut'

    so the situation is,

    1. running in safe mode. cannot get to normal. nothing opens up in normal.
    2. not able to install any anti virus, some say "cant run in safe mode", and others say "cant write to a file, access denied" even in admin.
    3. cant install Java, says "cant install in safe mode", so no online scan.
    4. safe mode just hangs after about 2 hours and i need to restart.
    5. BSOD sometime.
    6. virus attaches itself to all applications.

i have tried esset, Avg, prevx(cud not find sno. so it didnt remove any virus).

So please Suggest me some Strong Solution. URGENT

Using AVG at the moment. I've used Kaspersky, BitDefender and NOD32 in the past. Sooner or later, they all fail you.

I prefer Avast 4.8 Home Edition alongwith ZoneAlarm Firewall as they both protect me from viruses, trojans etc.

I am using NOD32 AntiVirus with Antispyware. Of all the AV I used, NOD32 is by far the best... scan on low profile and not memory hogger.

    +1 for NOD32.

small footprint unlike some *cough* symantec *cough*, it doesn't try and take over your system *cough* mcafee *cough*,

oh, and when it finds viruses, it actually removes the damn things rather than just look at you blankly to say 'zOMF-I-FOUNDZ-A-VIRUS-wotnow?' *cough* AVG *cough*.

I have been using free AVG for about 3 - 4 years. And so far it has severed me well.

Before AVG I used Mcfee and norton. Both of them were resource hogs that slowed my computer down too much.
