I spoke to a couple of people offline about this and they said it seemed childish and pathetic (their words not mine) to them. My saying this will come across a certain way to others according to their perception.

So it can also be about perception.

One person could view a like as good, another as childish and pathetic or sucking up (as someone pointed out to me also they thought a lot of it came across as and not just here but wherever such things are used like FB for example) - it is a matter of how one perceives such things which will differ from person to another person, the same for the best answer thing to.

    Then there are agendas to.

Reviews are similar and then we have the "purchase" factor on top of that as well as so many other factor which can be manipulated. It is very easy to manipulate behaviour both for perceived positive and negative agendas.

I was on Facebook recently and clicked an advert to find I landed on a site which advertised that they had provided articles to trip advisor with testimonials from trip advisor and then we wonder why tripadvisor gets investigated LOL.

It is again all about perception, the poeple will see from, as to what they see for their reasons and they rarely see beyond those reasons. I doubt a connection to likes and best answers will be seen but it is the manipulation for perception I am alluding to.

There are few reasons for it:
    1. Higher Authority and Trust.
Let's say there is a complex thread discuss about SEO and there are me and Revelations-Decoders sharing opinion and trying to help OP. Which one do you think will get more 'likes' and 'best Answer'?
Everyone know I'm not an SEO expert while RD is veteran in SEO. An experts in their field surely will get more likes. So it work as expected. There is no 'lag/error' in getting likes. People with more authority and trust will definitely getting more 'likes' IMO.
    2. Personality and Popularity.
      Let's analyze these questions:
      1. Do you know about Arick Unirow? Who is he? what is his contributions?
      2. Do you know about Shawn? Who is he? What is his contributions?
By answering those question above surely everyone would be able to find out why People tend to give more 'likes' and 'Best Answer' to Shawn.
I didn't mean to suck up to Shawn or the others. I respect all members and think them equally. However, there are few members deserve more respects for what they have done. We should learn: if other could be popular, we could be popular too. Start now by doing great things and ten years from now on, people would talk about us. You may ask any popular person about what they have done and what they felt ten years ago. Maybe no one even notice their existence and pay no respect for them. They are being popular because of their actions. We can learn from what they did and let's start for now.
    3. Giving 'Likes' for new members could be Dilemma. Attitude. It is all about attitude. We want them to be established as soon as possible but look at their attitude. Some of them were using gibberish language. What so funny is when another member warn about the language, suddenly OP could write readable post.
Another case just like new Member using "UnBeLieveAbLe AnnOyInG" fonts. I keep asking myself "Did their CapsLock were pressed all the times?" or "Did they enjoy writing using such attitude?".
So, Before you were even feel and think it is unfair why new member get no (less) likes, make an observation. If you make an example of your past as new member and getting no (less) likes, Carefully trace-route on your past. and answer these questions:
      1. Do you think 'Likes' is important?
      2. Did your post was aimed to get likes while writing post in DP?
      3. Did you write readable and good post in your comment?
Three questions above are sufficient enough to make any member thinking about why they get no likes in the past.
I do apology if my comment above sound harsh. For any name listed in this post, I have no motivation to praise or disfigure it. I'm willing to edit if any name listed above would like me to change some or all parts.
For OP: Apology for being Off Topic. I know this thread discuss about The possibility to use 'Best Answer' in more forums.
    For All:
    1. What Forums would you like to have 'Best Answer'?
    2. Do you agree with Diva to open more forum for 'Best Answer'?
    Arick.

Well, Arick honestly, I really like your posts that you write.. I notice that you always have a nice explanation and your English is really good.. I gain most of likes being funny, sometimes rude and not always trying to help.. Likes are definitely important, they show a lot as I already said, but I don't always aim for just getting the likes.. I just like being with people on this forum and likes are coming really easy..

I write what is available in my mind. I get most of the inspirations from Notable members in this board (Thanks to M, Ry, Dv, RD, and countless of the others).
Yes, member in this forum already know if Vukasini is great member. No doubt about it. You get most of likes because of your funny posts? That is good. This board would be 'empty' without many people like you. I'm glad to meet you here.

I sure would like to have a debate with those two. Why not tell those two bravehearts to PM me?
Anyway I don't particularly give a damn what they think, do you? I rely solely on my opinions and seldom allow others to influence mine.;)

These are people who don't use forums and the internet other than to purchase real items online spoliltdiva and their thoughts on such things are just an interesting other perspective as are all perspectives.

You really ought not to let such things make you react so sensitively lol, as it's way too easy to get drawn in to assuming and spontenous reactions to things that really don't matter too much in the grand scheme of things. It's not like DP is on their radar or ever would be ebay is and tescos or asda yes but not dp.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to have a "Worst Answer" button, anyone that gets 3 "Worst Answers" would have all their future posts sent to the moderation queue until they post something worth reading..

On the surface your idea would appear to have some merit. But scratch a bit deeper and you'll see potential for a "Worst Answer* option to be abused. Members having disagreements and grudges, would be hitting that button with monotonous regularity.

P.S. I do realize that your *Worst Answer* idea was made in jest but....still worth commenting on.;)
