    alternative depends on what market /niche you are in and also the source of traffic....
    if it mainly from reffered sites then the main focus should be on context as readers are coming to your sites with expectations..you have to satnd up to it

    if the traffic is from Search engines , (like i have from image search), you can be a little easy on content as the authority of your site is alreday established by being listed on the SE, and it shall stay so till you stay in SERPS, so I use full page ADBRITE ads for such users , image search users, as they are coming for pictures and usually have very high bounce rate so no use impressing them rather exploit them .


    Thrid kinda traffic is from Social sites which mainly consists of seasoned browsers who shall never click your ads but read all the content. MY gaming site gets 1k+ hits daily only from digg, as i do 2-3 posst daily then there is stumble etc, but the CTR is very low.

    SO to monetize this traffic I used another program which pay only for impressions , mind it is not an audio ad which is doing round the markets these days, the payout is reasonably fixed at $0.7 for 1k impressions, I have ti installed on each page of my gaming sites, currenlty i get a steady $2-2.5 from this system everday...
    though not very high but the income is passive and it counts for me.
