OK. So, after years of turning in the blogosphere trying to make money off of AdSense, I finally unlocked the key and understanding to the world of affiliates, affiliate products, and affiliate marketing. I have already made $300 in two weeks (which is FANTASTIC compared to my AdSense revenue). But, as always, I think the best course of action is to learn from those who came before me. What's the best piece of advice those of you who make a good amount from affiliate programs could give to those of us just starting out? (Doesn't need to be anything specific, since I think any and all responses will help me out.)
Mine was really kind of a fluke. Concerted trial and error, really. I have set up a number of sites and blogs and I really have been able to--over the course of the past two weeks--find products to sell and ads to run that fit for the specific niche that I am writing about on them. I am wondering though if people have success without their freestanding site already established. I'm a late-comer to this world. I just wish that I had discovered this sooner. (This being affiliate products.)
Your $300 in two weeks - how many visitors per day do you have to get that payback? Do you think you can continue that level of income, or was it just your regulars who clicked through just to help you out? I'm curious as I'm just setting out on a similar road.
Test Test and Test again. This is tried and true, keep trying something untill it works and then stick with that formula over and over until it quits working then back to the drawing board.
I personally have never tried advertising on a blog. Does anyone have any recommendations on which one I should go with if I where to try?
My traffic is pretty high for one of my sites. I also think the products that I was promoting really helped target the conversation that has been ongoing over the past couple of weeks. I have continued to see the returns at the same rate. Discovering Azoogle helped, as did really focusing on CJ. I really like what's offered at LinkShare, too. BUT (and here's the big BUT), I have been working on this specific site for over a year, so this traffic was hard earned.
Thanks, Jessica. It's just a couple of hundred dollars, which is great. But it slacked off yesterday... I put up some new products that I thought visitors would respond to. They didn't. LOL! But I won't get discouraged. It is still better than AdSense (for me).
Was your traffic mostly PPC? $300 in two weeks is really good. Right now, I'm focusing on building my lists, so I can promote products to my opt-ins on the backend. Not really making much now, but I'm optimistic about the future.
