So, I've got the domain, design, and a skeleton of content.

What is next? How do I start getting that SEO traffic to roll in? It's all White Hat here. Nothing but excellent content.

    1. Content is King
    2. Social media engagement

What next, though? A listing in the Yahoo! Directory? What are the concrete steps I should be taking? Just adding articles, blog posts, and reports?

I was just informed the Yahoo! Directory is going to shut down. What is the second best directory behind Yahoo for SEO?

Dmoz is probably the most classic directory that has long been claimed to be very authoritative. But getting your site on it, is not an easy task. However it's not as dead as it may seem. Different sections have different volunteers as editors, some actually suggest becoming an editor yourself if you want to get your link on there :) You can search more info on it if you are interested.

you should at least tell us the niche of your website so we could help better.

    business.com botw.com are good.

but you really need to analyze your competitors to see where they are getting links from.

In order to become effective we must prove to the targeted audience that "content is king" by providing them interesting and engaging content that will guide and benefits them in many ways, not in the form of selling our product and services.

Exactly. What I found interesting, is that usually the stuff that you think would benefit yourself, benefits others as well. In that way, you can find lots of things you are interested in and know about. Unless you are a boring person of course :)

DMOZ is a bit archaic, try link building and use social media to build good networks of users that are popular.

White hat is a long term safe strategy for an authority website. After you have about 20-30 ultimate articles on the websites, the next job is guest posting, I recommend this as you can have quick traffic from other blog's audience and a premium link as well.
