i don't know about the rest of u but on one of my blogs i have maintained very tight keywords and i always gets high paying ads whenever i change the layout. If its half banner i get that ad, if its wide skys i get it as the top one and so on.. don't knw about link ads though... never paid attention
The link ads did not work out for me so I removed them. Someone suggested having fewer ads on their page will bring higher eCPM and it seems true in my case.
Here's a tip I learned today. If you have ads on your page currently that have high CPM and CTR, do NOT change your content for a couple of days. If the content doesn't change, the ads won't either. I was just on a site with Adsense ads and the first article was about that idiot Blaine swimming in his own sewage and snot. The blogger raged against the network for interrupting programming for a tornado watch. So what were the ads targeting? You guessed it: tornados! I kid you not.
Here are tips that I am currently using to minimize ads blindness: 1.) randomize the ads placement 2.) randomize the ads format 3.) randomize the ads color 4.) blend the ads with other links sample: forum.articles2riches.com
You can read the same thing more than a 100 times if you spend your time searching the forums for related topics. So, nothing new..
I have to somewhat disagree with some points here 1&2 ** Blend in within content .. but if at the top or bottom and out of the way make ads ugly .. pick the worst colors possible .. you want people to look and think yikes .. before they know it .. the sub concious has read the ad .. and click click if they are interested. 4 ** If you can put 3 without cluttering your site .. put 3. The more ads displayed the high the chance of something interesting for the viewer and click click .. whether it will be high paying or not .. doesnt really matter as it randomized by google anyway. Don't forget those ad links .. simple and clutter free.
There is something that I do that I haven't seen mentioned here that works wonders for me. I make the content look like the ads. On my index pages, I make all the links three lines long, with the first line "linked" (in bold) and the other two lines being a description of the link. If you place four of these links on top of one another, it looks just like a "Large square" ad. Stick the four links beside the ad and it's hard to tell the difference. This technique made a huge difference in my bottom line.
Hell i forgot about the maximum 2 ad thing, i should start doing that again. Ill test and see if it still works, havent tried since like last year! Usually i just use the max 3 Tyler
Yes. Thats what we call color blending. This one is blending too much. Not good for making click at all! One of the best tips, it will lead to the click but don't made content that will missleading about the content and ads which is encourage user to click on it. this use I suggest use link unit and filter all cheap ads.
What about the idea of "Above the fold" ads with no "above the fold" links? I think that's a great idea. Not mine of course...
I've tried with flag alike adsense but seeing no big ctr changes. Changing a country modify also adsense colours. You can see an example in my signature.
