Hey guys, I'm about to start a relatively ambitious blog project, and really want to optimise the site for a decent Adsense CTR. Unlike my other blogs, and I'm not focusing on the most attractive theme possible. This site is intended to be a money maker for me (although the content will be of very high quality). Can you recommend any themes that are built with Adsense in mind? So far, BlueSense has caught my eye, but I'm not sure if the DoshDosh blog rates it so highly because they're affiliated. Would love some personal experience from you guys. Thanks
I think this theme may be suit http://www.wordpressithemes.com/magazine-news-wordpress-theme-for-google-adsense-revenue.html
Maybe one of my Adsense ready WP themes will suit your needs: http://wpmix.com/category/adsense-ready-wordpress-themes/
You can always try to build your own template if you can't find one that looks just right. There are plenty of tutorials about how to create your own templates. It's not as hard as you might think!
just forget about the ready made adsense themes , or the ones optimised just for this purpose, study your page, your visitors, what they like on your website, where they go, what they read, what attract them, and put ads beside the attracting places, dont try the easy way, work hard for your optimisation
This gets asked over and over and over. There is no "Best". You won't make more money from Adsense because you choose one theme over another. You'll only make money with Adsense if you learn what it is, how it works, and how to implement it within the content on your sites.
I've been successfully using Adsense for the past 5 years, so I know how it works. We all know placement affects CTR, so I was just looking for good examples of templates built with Adsense in mind, ie, setup with adsense blocks in hotspot areas.
I guess themes with two sidebar will be benefit, because one sidebar you can use for adsense, and other for navigations, i have seen alot of sites using both sidebar for adsense or other ads. Lately i have seen a header mix with logo and adsense, looks good too lol.. If you know a bit of coding, then it is easier to put any adsense as you like.
If you already understand ad placement, you don't need a specific theme to hold your hand and show you where the ad spots are coded in, you can place ads anywhere you want. A theme by itself doesn't make more money via adsense over another. You said that you are not concentrating on design, just ad placement and I think that is a mistake. Design is just as important as content. No one returns to a boring, ads only website. No matter how good the content is, unless you have a well known name in a certain industry or have great partnerships with respected websites in your niche, no one is going to notice the content if the design does not attract them and instill a level of professionalism and credibility. Surfers are not as stupid as they once were and can smell an MFA a mile away. The trick is to build a site that DOESN'T look like it's only made for ad placement. Just about every site around here is intended to be a money maker. You need to concentrate on all aspects of what makes a site successful, not just a few and ad placement is just one aspect of a successful money making site.
Thanks for the well constructed answer Hmansfield. I don't usually dabble in MFA or anything like that, I stay away from spammy sites and content. All my content is unique and high quality. Just thought I'd experiment with some mini niche sites as its something I've never had a go at, and I didn't want to spend the time I usually do on the design side of things. My other projects will vouch for the standards of my blogging; http://www.drifted.com, etc
