Project Wonderful I've had most success with, highly recommended for video and e-cartoon ads. Also no middle man with Project Wonderful it's all marketplace
If the options you gave us are the only choices, I would say Chitika. That being said, if a person lost their Adsense acct or wanted to find a better way to monetize the site, it depends on the niche. They may do better with Amazon as opposed to Adsense anyway. Or they may do better monetizing with actual physical products. You have to check and see what the competition is doing and go from there.
Adbrite is probably the most common alternative is Chitika usable in USA? I've only heard a little about it before
Kontera, Infolinks, etc never made me enough to feel I was genuinely "earning"... if I site is that terrible for Adsense (which is hard to imagine since earning on Adsense is easy even with niches people say will not work) then I would opt for affiliate sales - why not? If you go with EPN (Ebay) it's easy enough to turn a $20/month Adsense site into a $300/month site for EPN - but bear in mind EPN takes a bit longer to pay, in my experience.
