Best Ad placement that works well for me.

Google allows me max of 3 ads (even though I see lot's of other people get more allowance than just 3).
Here is what works the best for me and gives me earnings of $22 a day. You got to be tricky to earn with AdSense.
    1. Use a combination of text only and image ads. I have 1 image ad on top and 1 in center and finally 1 at bottom which is a horizontal banner. The first 2 I mentioned are the big square ones which earn the most. People have become accustomed to ignoring banners so it is a wise idea to use a block looking add like the 336 width one.

    2. Use a plugin or find a way to auto inject your ads into ever so many paragraphs of your post. Wordpress has a plugin for this I forgot the name. Or if you don't write a lot you can just place the ad in the center yourself. When you have someone hooked and reading your article already is when they will most likely be able to click your ad.

    3. Mix colors on text ads of titles. Make your text ad color all black except the title itself. Make the title color Red or orange which attract attention. For your 2nd ad which should be further down your post, make it a black title color and blue link color. Just keep trying various combinations and see what works for you.

Also, keep in mind that your adsense script scans your page starting from top for keywords so if you have irrelevant links or keywords then expect to have a lower earning because the person reading your article is more likely to click on an ad relevant to the article itself. I had to remove 1 link in my menu titled Wallpapers which was causing people to see art design and other irrelevant stuff and once I removed it I saw a major surge in earnings by like 60 or more %.

Also make sure you avoid using Media.net Ads alongside your AdSense ads as Media.net ads texts get picked up by the AdSense script and end up causing the AdSense ad to show irrelevant ads which has also happened to me.
