Links & Traffic in a nutshell.

Even if the links are nofollow, PEOPLE will see them. Bots (according to many sources) will still visit them and help with indexing (though they likely will not offer in much in the way of link weight).

Though remember, the key to SOCIAL networking is to NETWORK socially. Become involved in the sites and work with them, as that is the best way to get them to work for you!

Also don't bookmark your site too fast, bookmark 1 to 2 pages a day.

I'd say slower then that, and even then only the pages that would actually have an interest to the potential readers (be self critical!).

Also, book mark pages from other sources as well. That'll help mix things up a bit and make it not look like you are an all out spammer.

It's good if you are looking for people to come to your site and not buy stuff. If you want potential subscribers to your rss feed or something like that.

There is an so called "Digg effect". It is a situation when about 30K unique visitors at the same time go to you great page (if it is really great). Whant do you think if 30K visitors per day gives a benefit? ;)

Make sure you get the right "friends". In other words, if your site is about politics, you'll need to get a lot of ppl that love to talk about politics. Then post an article and ask one of your friends to either digg or stumble it, and the idea is that their friends will see their suggestion about your article on your site. It's worked for me on SU but usually the traffic tapers off.

People say Google still follow, but doesn't index.
