Do follow Social bookmarking sites can help in higher ranking of your website, they can help in getting indexed your website fast. Also, it will also get you good traffic from those sites.

If you submit your site to Google, you'll have to wait up to 60 days to get indexed.

 

You can get ranking and traffic both from social bookmarking , if they are dofollow.

Mimran, I think your main concern is if social bookmarking is going to boost your seo efforts in the SERP's. You have to keep in mind social bookmarks are "soft links" and should not be exceed more than 20% of your total links. Your natural organic backlinks from websites that are not considered "social media" are going to be the weight of your ranking. These are "hard links" that (should be) more authoritative in their value to move your upward in the rankings. There is an opportunity in that if your site has a topic that is extremely compelling or "in the now" that it can go viral amongst the social networks (i.e. First page of Digg) but I wouldn't rely on that.
