a wide variety of anchor text (though mostly these days concentrate on the brand name) and descriptions are essential. you can do a lot with descriptions of 350-500 characters which is what most directories will allow - many variations/different descrptions will add to the appeal of the Detail page and also allow you to target many different keywords/search phrases too

 

Directory submission is good for website to take more backlinks and increase traffic but one disadvantage it should be done on daily basis. if you leave it then after one or two month your website will be back to square one.

I don't know about the rest of you but I have about a hundred domains, and am not at all in the position to pay the costs involved in submitting them all to directories that charge upwards of a hundred bucks for a review.

I submit my new sites to directories that are well maintained, and to categories that are not bad neighborhoods, despite the fact that they may not have pagerank, because I believe that a listing in a well-run web directory will eventually become worthwhile as long as they keep plugging away at it, and because I can afford submission fees of from five to twenty-five dollars, with an occasional splurge for one of the more expensive ones.

In recent years, such a plan does not give me instant PageRank but I am one hundred percent persuaded that it does increase my sites' positions in the SERPs as long as I'm not submitting my site to those directories that are intended only to relieve suckers of their money. These would be the ones that are little more than a return of the old free-for-all sites (for those who remember them), which now want money.

 

Personally, I don't think directories submitting are of those important. I would suggest, pick some 20 directories with good page rank and submit. It may take months but this tactic is useful.
