    This is one of the SEO strategies companies and individuals use these days because this way they get backlinks and more traffic to their websites which should result in higher google page rank and SEO.

    other than that, other benefits you can get from blog commenting are:

    - share thoughts and learn something new
    - make more friends
    - show that you have knowledge in something
    etc...

    Blog commenting is a way of link building. The link that comes from authority blog has great value in Search engine like Google.It can give you both traffic and targeted visitors.

    There is nothing to elaborate on. Blog commenting is not seo, neither is linkwheels, forum posting and anything else you can find in the services section.I have been espousing proper SEO for almost 8 years, no one listens. I think I give up.

    - you can get a backlink from a blog on a related niche
    - you may get traffic, because people also read comments
    - you make friends
    - you may participate in some interesting discutions
    - doing it the right way you can become some kind of expert in your niche, at least you have a chance that someone read your opinion
