Because you don't have to deal with things like customers, suppliers, payment processors, stock. You just join, the affiliate program gives you resources like templates, banners and content, you plug them into your site and you get commission from every item sold via your affiliate link.

You advertise, on your site, for your affiliate. When someone clicks the ad and buys something, you make money

 

You earn a percentage of the sale price. If your affiliate company is offering 25% of sale price then for every $100 you will earn $25. There are also affiliate programs that build downlines and you earn residual income off of your sponsored affiliates. This is a better way to make money as your guaranteed monthly payment as opposed to one off sales.

No. Look at the second link in my sig. All those ads are affiliate ads of one type or another. The advertiser provides me with the code for my my site.
