    The keywords i chose for my first site get 2,000 searches a day on overture, and on google only 11,000 competitors. So i already built the site but now just figured out by using wordtracker that my keyword phrase
    has only a .04 KEI :confused: what do i do???

    I would look closely at the sites that currently rank in the top 10 for the keywords you are targeting, and determine if they are beatable through SEO. See how many links they have, and if the keywords appear in the links. Are their pages optimized? Things like that. If you see that the 10th ranked site for a particular keyword has 10,000 backlinks, with many of them containing those keywords, I would worry. I think KEI is a minor tool, and a little bit interesting, but pales in comparison to really looking at your competitors.

    Try getting new keyword phrases out of the existing keywords.

    Don't ever believe on that KEI. You know what?

    try this keyword in Wordtracker "pc computer repair". The KEI is .04 and here is what Wordtracker says;

    “Generally, a poor keyword to target will have a KEI of between 0 - 10. It’s not wise to target keywords with this KEI as there is too much competition and you will probably end up on page 34 and no-one will notice you!"

    Search this keyword in Google, my site is still on page 2. But for two weeks I was on no.5. I just decided to remove that keyword from my title tag, h1, h2 and links since for two weeks being on the first page I have not received any single visitor using this keyword.

    So my advice, never mind that KEI, go on with your keyword and find for yourself if there's really 2000 search per day for your keyword.

    But I suggest, don't rely to much on Overture. You might be disappointed.

    yeah im spending too much time thinking about what can go wrong and what isn't good enough with my first site- I need to just get my first site live and take it from there and learn from my mistakes.

    I do believe in KEI. But I don't get much by following the KEI.
    It's hard to get on top.
