I hope someone can help me. My website http://thecloseoutindustry.com is being indexed however when someone searches for a specific page Google is sending them to my home page only. So, in a nutshell my visitors are not arriving to my site viewing relevant content as it relates to their original search. How can I fix this? I appreciate any help
Point backlinks to your internal web pages using the proper anchor text relative to the keyword or keyword phrase you want to rank that page for, ofcourse if you just build backlinks to your homepage 9 times out of 10 that is the page that will appear in search results.
ok, thank you very much. I am a newbie though and do not fully understand what you are saying. is there somewhere on the web where I might be able to read about this particular issue? I guess I could send someone a candy bar if they tried to explain in "New Seo Guy" terms... Sorry
I've gave you a link to the SEO FAQ made by stymiee at sitepoint, it's an excellent source for beginners, it doesn't answer your question much but will help expand your mind into SEO. As for your general question it's just something that happens, there really isn't an explanation and all webmasters have it happen at one time or another. http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=182915
