Being bullied by easygroup

    hi guys,

we have recently being contacted by easygroup www.easy.com and accuse us of using the word easy in our domain and demand us to shut our site at www.easygadget.co.uk

As you can see, our site has absolutely no resembance to easygroup, but..what can we do... :(

As such, we are now into the market to setup a new domain, change our business entities and so on.

Most of the XXX domain which we are looking for are taken, but not occupied by a live site, simply being registered.

Is there a way to contact the owner and purchase the site off him? if so, how can we go about doing it?

    many thanks

If you have spent money on lawyers you might as well spend another 40 bucks and buy yourself a membership at Dnforum. Post your case and you will get expert answers, I can bet that they don't have case

Wait until they manage to shut down EasyJet, EasyMoney, EasyCinema and all the other Stelios ventures. Then you know whether they have a leg to stand on or not.

    In other words, screw them.

There is nothing to fight about since their claim is just BS. Anyway, wusses never win... the net is a jungle and if you don't have the balls to defend yourself you will always get kicked around by the bullies

LOL I was wondering that when I was posting it but thought it was an American company.

In that case, because they are almost EasyEverything you might find, as unfair as it sounds, that their brand is already so strong that they have right to claim your domain as well.

Your lawyers are probably right in that case.

Tha would shock the hell out of me...just don't see it happening. I almost wish I had some kind of "easy" domain - I'd let em' sue me just to see what would happen.

    Hi easygadget,

I would agree with the others above. Easygroup does not have a right to do that.

Your website (which is quite nice btw) looks nothing like an easygroup site.
Easygroup does not own the word 'EASY' and all possible permutations of that word. It's ridiculous and outrageous of them to try and force you to give up your domain to them. DON'T do it.

It's obvious that easygroup are interested in setting up a similar type of website to yours e.g. bigpockets.co.uk etc. They are just using their legal team as a cheap way to acquire domains that they do not own, to further their own business interests. It's their own tough luck that they did not register that name themselves.

I feel this is just scare tactics by easygroup. DON'T DO IT. Btw, I recently registered easysites.net which used to belong to the easygroup, according to archive.org. That's their tough luck too, lol.

MikeRoweSoft and all the others is the exact same thing. And those are even misspellings. Once an established brand, they pretty much own such a word. It being a dictionary word might help easygadgets but consult an experienced internet IP/branding lawyer and you'll find out your answer soon enough.

In terms of buying domains/sites just e-mail them your pitch. You can whois their details if not on-site.

the main issue is they persuade the judge to put on an injunction on our business in simply one day, it will already cost us lost £XXXX profits, if that drag longer, it will only be unstainable for us.

We are prepare to fight the case but are now looking for contingencies plan in case if easygadget.co.uk is being put by judge to cease operation, we can switch to another domain immediately without affecting our core business

WOW what a bunch of asses...I would proceed with plan B anyways. What's the cost of a domain name? Be ready and ride it out to the bitter end...I say!

    www.easy-bites-the-big-one.com is available ;).

Bloody rediculious...making enemies online can't be a good thing .
