Maybe it's just me but I see this as a huge mistake by Google... they lose an awful lot of credibility with this move. Has Google Become More "Evil" Than Microsoft?
Would not be a good step if they include that to site search as well they should only limit that to "Google Video search" still not good there as well. they should seperate ads from non ad content.
I read that earlier too. I think it's a bad idea if they drop the links into the normal search results (but we won't know until we see it). But even if they do, I think they have a long way to go to take the evil crown away from Microsoft.
I am not so sure about that. Microsoft you can generally avoid if you want to. They have always competed on economic/business grounds. Google thinks they are a social force, collects far more data on things then MS ever does, is very secrative, and worst thinks they can do no wrong, so goes in thing with a hubris that is dangerous.
Well the fact that they are entertaining such unethical approaches says lots, and I mean lots. We will all see how they stack up once MS puts out their PPC network. I didn't expect to see this type of behavior from Google at all.
They will lose credibility, but then again, do you guys think that they would have been able stay on top of things if they didn't have a certain competitive edge to them that won't let them give up on something they're trying to accomplish? I much rather see Google compromise some than MS buying their way into everything and then dominating the search engine world as well.
As long as most people (i.e. not the ones on this forum) are unaware of these practises or simply don't care, G will not suffer from it.
But for some reason I believe that the Google search results will still be better than msn's even with paid advertisement integrated
I think it's being blown out of proportion. Microsoft is *assuming* that's what they are going to do, when in fact they have no idea since it hasn't been implemented. Looks like a cheap shot at Google by Microsoft to me... They are probably just pissed off they couldn't pull off the AOL deal. In reality, Google hasn't implemented it yet, and until they do no one can really say what they are doing is unethical (it's actually quite funny being accused of being unethical by Microsoft. hahaha). I also have a sneaking suspicion that whatever it ends up being will NOT be displayed as normal search results. That's not Google's "style".
Yes, it appears the author took things out of context. His interpretation of convenience served its purpose though ... has folks a buzz and posting his article all over the Internet. Tacky on the author's part it seems, not on Google's.
Hehe. Guess I shouldn't have been such a lazy ass and should have registered at the New York Times to get the full scoop. Ooops
Interesting, but not unexpected. I said on this forum long ago, just because a company leaks they will do something, don't mean they will. I asserted that companies leak false info to throw the competition off. Looks like it's a tactic that worked. M can come out looking like a real jerk if this don't come to pass. And now back to "As the stomach turns" already in progress.
cool, wish google did what MS say. now the task would be to shout about evil-google everywhere so that the google mania slows down a bit.
