    Hello friends! :)

I would like to hear your opinions and help, please.

I'm starting an online store, on which I will resell software. ESD, downloadable software. I have already contact with several companies, and all is working.

But, I have several doubts. I am almosting signing up for 3D cart. Is this a good solution? Also, is it better/more secure use a hosted solution or to use a solution hosted on my own servers?

And, do you think that an online store which will resell software can find its place in this huge niche? Do you have more tips? And, is 3D cart a good solution?

Thanks in advance for your help! :D

i am in same situation and after much much research went for shopify which is a simple to set up hosted soluution, I can build / design website but focus should be on selling, so you might want and off the shelf solution and tailor it yourself. volution is also good but hidden bandwidth charges and poor support.

I think people will search thenreal sourceof the software before going through and install. So reseller might not work.

as your thread title says you are a beginner, thus i suggest you go for a hosted solution. there are many that provide that service. use can use your own domain etc. most will provide you with everything you need to get a start in the eCommerce world. once you are comfortable with the running of the store on hosted platform you can move to self hosted solution. and as a previous poster said. do a google search and find a hosted solution suited to you

For eCommerce its always better to host the biz your self. this gives you power over its performance and operation. as for the cart/platform you use, this should depend on your business plan and what you hope to achieve.

Also if this is your first store you may need an online business coach, PM me so i can get more details and give yu more advice

hi ewsg. if you are in uk i would look most closely as shopify and volution for hosted. if you are in the usa look at bigcommerce or core commerce. these have the best features support. I am not in downloadable software. I have been in web design before but its so cheap to outsource to india etc that i wouldnt do the hard work myself any more. my focus now is on selling products, ebay/amazon main focus but also physical retail and websites. I could build a shop myself but when you can get a hosted solution for £20 a month and buy a really good template for either nothing to <$100 then I would always suggest hosted if you can and start the real work which is getting people to come to your site.

    Hello,

Thank you all for all your help. So, I'm based in South America. :)

Also, why some of you say that resell software is not good, or that I'll not get much money? I see a lot of resellers in the market.

Regarding the solutions mentioned on the thread, is bigcommerce a good one? And 3D cart, do you recommend it? :)
