Hey guys, I purchased http://www.SoonersSuck.com about a week ago and have a few questions... If you're not familiar with the Sooners, in this case, it will be in reference to the University of Oklahoma (of which I'm a HUGE fan, but couldn't resist the purchase when I saw it available). This would probably be best suited to a strong rival against the Sooners, most likely a buyer would come from the University of Texas, which is a huge rival, although there are others. I'm new at this ballgame, but saw that urlappraisal.net rated it's value at appx $5,700, although I'm not sure how accurate those guys are. http://www.urlappraisal.net/appraisal/soonerssuck.com.html Anyway, any advice/assistance some of you that are more seasoned might be able to provide would definitely be appreciated. (i.e. potential value, best way to find an end-user to get a decent sales price, etc.) I do believe that the site has decent value, as there are a large number of fans that are pretty passionate, but wanted to get some feedback from some of the more experienced here before I even try to sell it!! Thanks in advance!!! Jason
It would be hard to sell it. For one, it's a potential trademark violation, so any buyer would have to factor in a potential UDRP case. You might be able to build it into a forum or community though, and earn something off of it that way. If you don't want to develop it yourself, another option would be to post it on SEDO, and see if there's any interest in the name.
Thanks for the response. I don't think that there would be any chance of a trademark violation as the original "definition" of the sooners is those settlers in oklahoma during the land run that didn't wait for the guns to fire before beginning their claim....basically they started early, and were known as the "sooners". They've trademarked souvenir items with that logo, but I think trademarking the actual name would be a stretch....especially since the original "sooners" were actually the cheaters, and "soonerssuck" would fit the bill for that as well. Of course I'm not an attorney, but think it'd still be a stretch.
Sorry to say but urlappraisal.net is pretty much worthless. They might as well have a random number generator pump out their appraisals...which they may Although it would be nice if it was accurate for the sake of my domains Whether or not the domain is a potential trademark violation, it still isn't a strong buyer keyword or short domain. It also has a PR 0 and, therefore, little SEO value. But you never know, you might find a rich Texas fan who absolutely loathes the Sooners...
