After browsing through this forum, I decided to go with hostgator.com to host my future site. But I was wondering, knowing nothing about html. Does hostgator have a program to help me? Is hostgator a bad choice for a beginner? What host would you suggest for a beginner? I plan to create an infomation site with sub topics(a few to start off, but I will gain more as I go on).

First decision to make is this.

Will you code the website yourself or are you going to use a CMS?

With the latter, you don't need to know HTML and if Hostgator comes with Fantastico, you don't even need any technical knowledge at all.

HostGator's pretty good for a beginner, I think, and one of the least "techie" hosts. But I encourage you to just try some simple html. you can create it in notepad or wordpad. Free tutorials are found all over the web. YOu'll probably have a homepage (or some simulation thereof) up in an hour or two.

They have excellent support and will help answer your questions. I host all my clients and personal sites with hostgator. Don't ask them HTML or design questions though, do that here ;-)
