Before You Say "I Love You". Are You Sure?

Profound thoughts that I read today.

"Love cannot be had for the asking;it comes only as a gift from the heart of another. Be certain of your feelings before you say to anyone, "I love you." Once you give your love, it must be forever. Not because you want to be near that person, but because you want perfection for that soul. To wish for perfection for the loved one, and to feel pure joy in thinking of that soul, is divine love; and that is the love of true friendship." - Laura Young

Yes. I certainly won't say that I'd love someone, if I'm not sure. In case I'm not shure, I mention that as well.

In german we have "Ich liebe Dich" -> the normal english "I love you" - and we have "Ich hab Dich lieb" - means that u love someone as well, but more in a friendship-way.. or in a parent<->child-way..

I sure do love my friends, but not the way I love my (future ?) girlfriend. But in english its the same phrase.. one of the reasons I don't like english that much, u just can't express that much in it..

I think people often say "I love you" without having real love feelings, habitually. Especially after 5 years of being married. So is the human nature.

Those three words are very meaningful to me. I only say those words when i really mean it and only when i feel like saying it.

Agreed RightMan, I feel today people use it a lot without even having any sense of the profound meaning:eek:. I think you must wait for the right person to say this word from your heart. Afterwards you can say this to him-her 40-50 times per day:).

Love is a very abstract feeling .It cant be defined and at the same time it cant be done purposely..But sometimes the feeling that you feel is love happens to be a mere infatuation ,so you need to be careful.
Nice thoughts Bohol thnx for sharing.
