Amstel is 'lighter' and easier on the skull. More similar to Heineken (same brewer anyway).

Ah, cool, cheers T0PS :) Are there any other decent Dutch brews we should know about? I'm planning on heading over to the continent for some beer adventures this year so any pointers would be appreciated :)

Amstel and Heineken are like sewage water compared to Grolsch. Heineken is giving me headaches too...

You could try Leffe, Grimbergen (don't know if they are Dutch or Belgian), Bavaria or Brand. If you like white beer, you should try Hoegaarden. If you want to get druck real fast, you'll have to try a Grolsch Kanon (11% vol.). Stay away from Oranjeboom, that's really crappy headache beer.

Actually i think beer is meant to be a general description of anything from ale/porter/stout and larger.

No offence to the americans but i have american beer, it is really bland and flavourless i find this is also the case for largers under 5% such as fosters/carling/carsberg etc. Unfortunatly i dont go to many pubs that do the kind of stuff Lever drinks, and i do generally drink larger more than ales etc.

My favourite has to be Becks, or warsteiner for largers. Cant go wrong with german larger as it is against the law for them to add impurities onto it. Though if there if neither of them are on tap i would go fro grolsch. Used to be a fan of Stella but i dont know about any of the other UK residents but if it is on tap i find it tastes awful as nearly everyone drinks it and it needs the pipes cleanign out all the time.

Guiness, Kronenbourg Blanc are also favourites of mine

Thanks Wiep :) I think I'll see what Dutch Grolsch is like, I think it's brewed over here too and beer doesn't always taste so good "away from home"

Leffe's always good, Blond ou Brun, and Hoegaarden too and I think Grimbergen is Belgian too, but the Kanon sounds like fun :D Cheers dude :)

Overdrijven is ook een vak :D

I guess I like sewage water then :)

Yeah I agree on Oranjeboom, it's crap. Watered down water with shit added to give you headaches.

Lever, insteresting to not see you around much and then there's this thread... :D

Considering Belgium is pretty much Holland, I can also recommend the Dutch beer called Palm.

I'm from Fryslan so I should also mention Us Heit beer :)

Cheers :) I shall keep an eye out for that, maybe in a couple of week time 'cos I have to go to Essex this weekend
