I have favorite types -- amber to dark ales -- but I do not have favorite brands. Years ago I stopped lagers because they started to taste like the fluid their light yellow color reminds one of. I know this because when I was four . . .

I strongly recommend Alexander Keith's from Halifax, Nova Scotia... it'll be one of the best beer's you'll ever drink.

Don't go on the tour of the brewery though, very disappointing.

Added it, Thanks...I thought I would have more suggestions from here. I would hate to put down Coors Light as a contender.

There were samples... that was the only good part of the tour.

When you start the tour they try and put you in the mood with character actors from the 1800's and explain how when you walk through the big door you will be sent back in time. You're told that if you ask the actors anything about the current time they will not know what you are talking about or call you crazy.

So you go through the big door and what is on the other side... a huge 52 inch plasma screen TV that you watch for the first 10 minutes while it gives you a history of the beer. Last time I checked there were no plasma screen TV's in the 1800's... it really destroyed the mood.

Hey this is a great place to get beer input. Getting a lot of non U.S. beer added to the list. All suggestions are welcome though!

I'm suprised you don't have Pilsner, not the fake American Pilsner, but the real one from Czech Rep. Personally I don't care for it much, but many do and it has to be one of the world's top beers.

The best beer I ever had is Černý Kozel, also from Czech Rep. but there's a catch. Beers are pasturized so they will keep and that really kills the flavor, but if you can get your hands on unpasterized beers, they are far superior and unpasterized Černý Kozel is an amazing beer.
