Hi guys I had my site in dmoz for a long time only to suddenly realise ive been removed this isnt a complaint as editors are entitled to put what ever sites they want in dmoz, I just wondered if theres any way I can find out why ? I dont wanna just submit again if there is a problem with my site, or anything I should be doing to improve my site. Was just a bit of a shock to get removed Many thanks Woc btw i tryed to use the contact form at the bottom of the category and it gave me error 500 is there any other way to contact someone !
There is no way you can find out. It is extremely unlikely that an editor will let you know the reason, mainly because it always results in arguments that go no where. HOWEVER, if you are willing to post the URL, we may be able to look at the site and suggest a reason to you.
yup I can understand that im not taking it personally though, just wanted some feedback thats all the url is http://www.worldofchat.co.uk Many thanks Woc
I not an editor, so not privy to anything internal at DMOZ. .... I can see no obvious reason why it would have been delisted. Are you sure it was actually listed? I checked an old clone of DMOZ and it was not listed in that either, which probably means it was never listed or was removed quite some time ago.
yeah positive agent, althought i hadnt checked it for a while, maybe 2 months since I last looked I didnt think to check really it was in /Chat/Web-Based/Chat_Rooms/ in here It has been updated cos there are some new sites in there, strange i was removed I was trying to find out if it was a mistake, or maybe i was being moved ? Do you think I should just re-submit? Im in the process of updating the site anyhow so am not worried about getting back in, as if i dont get into the category i was listed ill try for another. It is a bit frustrating as im sure you can appreciate as some of the new sites added in there dont seem to have many members, but like i said before I dont run the category so its up to the editor. Woc
I not sure what to advise. Better of getting that from a DMOZ editor - several of them post here regularly. It could be your site has been moved to another category and is waiting there to be reviewed (I notice that the editor for the category your site was in can only edit in that one category, so they will not have permission to list the site in a category they moved it to)
according to my Quirk Searchstatus toolbar, yeah, it was listed... but its no where to be found. if you had some server trouble recently that put your site under for as little as 15 minutes, an editor could have noticed or their bots could have pulled it. In either case (if it was one of these) then it's likely just removed for re-review and will be back up pending an editor getting around to it (which could be now or in three years from now). Either way, best of luck!
You still might be able to "update listing" you could try that now... though I do not know how they look on that but *shrug* if they didn't want such feedback they would communicate a bit better.
yeah its a shame I cant contact them, but i suppose they would get lots of dodgy mail or messages from people begging to be added lol! Woc
