How much it will cost to become a domain registrar ? Is it only money or we have to have some other capacity as well to be qualified to become a domain registrar ?
Hi mrforum You can Resell Domain names from popular reseller providers like wildwestdomains, resellerclub, twocows etc. 1. But a reseller package from one the above. 2. you need to setup a website and have a billing software get installed. ex: whmcs 3. connect the billing software to one of above reseller network you already puchased. 4. start selling domains. I think if you post this job in the contest forum here or at webhostingtalk.com, somebody will help you setup for a payment.
Becoming a registrar is quite expensive, there's a large non-refundable application fee. Then the registrar yearly fee.
You can find out more here: icann.org/resources/pages/accreditation-2012-02-25-en icann.org/resources/pages/financials-55-2012-02-25-en There is a "variable fee" which must be paid by all accredited registrars. That variable fee is hard to find information on. Otherwise, the fees are not that bad (several thousand) and you have to have enough working capital ($70,000 or so) to be considered. $3,500 non-refundable application fee, $4,000 annual accreditation fee, and the variable fee, an amount I cannot find.
That would be impossible as the variable fee is split between all the registrars and is different each year. If someone wants to get into the domain registrar game, they could always become a reseller and if they are successful doing that, then become a registrar. No point in spending thousands of dollars upfront when you have no experience in the business.
that sounds very reasonable.. If you can not make money as an affiliate to show that you have what it takes, then how you going to flop around like a fish with the big boys, and all that competition....
Namecheap was for many years an Enom reseller. And they are one of the big players. (They may now be a full registrar, but I'm not going to look that up.)
