President is Michael Yang- the guy who founded mysimon.com- wonder if he'll succeed at all with this one.

I was just coming in to the forums to ask the same thing. It's been all over my shopping site for days now. I read the blurb thay have on their about page, but it doesn't really tell me anything. I wonder what this "new technology" is? I think the real question is, become what? :D

I just put up an interview with Michael Yang on my blog. They're having the prelaunch party Feb 10, 2005 and I'll be blogging the event. Right now he's saying they've got a better algo in that it doesn't rely on backlinks the way Google's PageRank algo does but when I get more details on the specifics I'll post. Hope this helps.

I look forward to hearing about it Jason. Since I run a shopping site I'm very interested in what will "become" of it when the new engine goes online. Meanwhile, I noticed something interesting today. The become bot has been all over my site the past couple of days. Today, I'm recording about 25 uniques that are all the become spider. It looks like each one of the different IPs is hitting me 100's of times. Gbot has hit me 350 times as of just a minute ago, and its only about 8% of the total hits from spiders today! Another one or two goes to inktomi. All the rest is become. Interesting.

Per the post on my blog, they're going to go live with 2.2 billion unique pages when they launch next month so it's not surprising at all. Especially since your site is shopping related. Once their spider crawls and deems a site is indeed a shopping site, it aggressively crawls that site to ensure it has the most recent version of all it's pages. They know what they're doing but it's always fun to get a real live example to prove that :)
