Beckham will start for the Los Angeles Galaxy team in August

Beckham agrees $250 Million Dollar 5 Year LA Galaxy Deal

For that kind of money they could have imported a lot of great soccer stars but I guess they are thinking that his celebrity status will attract more viewers. It will be interesting to see how well it works.

Yeah in Britain she is known as Bling I think the USA equivalent is trailer trash a very poor advertisement for an English Rose.

Which she is not and never will be.
Maybe she will be looking for a role in
'The Lady is a Tramp'

I truly believe that Beckham still wanted to stay at Madrid, and Real didn't want to play him.

Sad to see him go to a kiddie league, and i think he still has a couple of good years in top level football. Why oh why did he want to play in the centre of midfield which is one of the main reasons he was shown the door at United!

Yes I am a lifelong United Supporter but to answer the question with Beckham the problem is in his head

'All the lights are on, but nobody is at home' ;)
His managers and agents package the Brand

All the guy could do is pass the ball from the byeline and free kicks, sublime skills if he could have just seen the limitation of his limited skills

Unlike most of the 'football fans', i actually like Beckham... but after 2002-3 every decision he made has been the wrong one. One of the biggest reasons for that is he took Fergie too lightly and got the kick on his backside which he thought he would never get.

In his latest interview he says, 'i have no regrets' , my A** he doesn't! Now that he thinks about the reason he had to leave United, he'll be kicking himself. afterall why would one of the best crossers of the ball from any part of the pitch would want to play in the centre of midfield. :S

From a purely footballing point of view, Becks should have gone back to the Premiershite. However - if you were offered $250 would you have turned it down?

Good luck to him. I still prefer real lower league football any day of the week.

If you see the break-up of his earnings its more or less the same he would have got anywhere, because this includes his endrosments/image rights.

The only thing he gets extra is 10m quid ($20m) as a part of the profits the club will make during his stay. Deep inside he is still a United fan, you can make that out from his interviews and stuff..

True everyone thinks the club or the league are paying him $1m/week, only one club in that league even makes a profit the rest lose money each year as if they could afford to pay him $1m/week. They are including all sponsorship deals etc in that.

    #An annual salary of $10m

#His existing sponsorship contracts with his four sponsors - Motorola, Pepsi, Gillette and Volkswagen - are estimated to be worth $25m

#His merchandising shirt sales will bring in $10m

#His share of the club profits: $10m

#That adds up to $55m. Multiply it by five and you get $275m.

If only the Sun, Star and all the other news papers and channels listed it like that, there all making out like some little team is paying him $55m a year and hes running over there for the money only. He would earn similiar money where ever he plays.

Exactly, except maybe the $10m in club profits as i said earlier.

I don't think he wanted to play for Bolton (his fathers favored team) , so there was only 1 place he was going.....LA!!

I don't think he could have ever played for any Premiership club after united, the biggest reason being he still loves the club and is a true united man!

But this guy has never moved anywhere for money

But his wife has moved him from club to club in pursuit of Millions of Dollars, and all that because when he was at United he only had say 50 Million USD in the bank

A career wrecked because of greed and avarice

But hey he will be a billionaire soon that should be interesting for the Tabloids ;)
