    Hello Guys,

Does using an extension such as .be effect your overall chances in terms of SEO ? Is Google more prejudiced towards .com or are all other extensions equal ?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

The only extension I know of that can throw more weight is .edu but you have to get one from the government!

It does not matter what extension you use, if you have good on page seo and soild backlinks then your site will rank just as good as any other kind of extension out there.

I'm sorry to inform you all but .edu does make a difference if your linked on it. They throw significant weight in some SE's

    TLD extension means absolutely nothing.
.edu and .gov domains are considered "authority" sites, because they cant be run by spammers and because they`re "legit". Thats why Google automatically gives them more weight (and gives your site more weight if you arrange a backlink on them).

Not sure were you guys are getting this info. I have 3 .gov links and about 22 .edu's pointing at one of my sites, trust me it makes no difference what so ever.

Well, generally .edu domains have strong page ranks as they are education. If your links are not strong then yeah, would make no difference.

I had a hard time de-indexing a few .BE domains that Google indexed even without being submitted for crawling.

My forum (Check Sig) is ranked all over the place for many terms! A lot of the threads and users are ranked! By placing your links in a Sig at mine its just as powerful as DP only at a pr 3 level instead of 7 like DP has. Forums are a tricky business to get going. But well worth it when members start piling in!
