I know this isn't a gaming website but I'm sure all of us are interacting with people and forming friendships of sorts. I don't care if it's Tinder or a gaming site or digitalpoint, if you are young or old, if the meetup is sexual, business or just friendly - if you are meeting up with someone: tell people what your plans are arrange your own transport to the meeting place and don't go anywhere else with them pick a public place where there will be people around pick a place with cellphone reception - and have credit on your phone have an app like life360 on your phone, turned on and with a friend able to see where you are This kid, Aaron Pajich, was 18. His parents were probably thinking that the hard yards were done, their young man was ready to take on the world. And now they have to plan his funeral and learn about prosecutions and legal systems and the pain of mourning a child.
YOU TOO BUT IN AMERICA - WE HAVE LARGER ISSUES http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/12/us/orlando-nightclub-shooting/ Orlando shooting: 49 killed, shooter pledged ISIS allegiance By Ralph Ellis, Ashley Fantz, Faith Karimi and Eliott C. McLaughlin, CNN
Sure, but on a personal level there's not much the people in that nightclub could have done to ensure their safety when they decided to go the club. If you're meeting a stranger there is.
Not only in America but also every where in The World . in Syria eevery single day innocent people, kids get death gifts every day. I don't know how much number but more then 50 per day everyday. They are paying there lives because they are in the Area which superpowers trying to have a control.
Such a pity @sarahk legit advice indeed. The younger generation (not that I'm very old though) is very open on meet ups and forward. Kind of scary to see, well at least scary to someone who reads news and have some experience.
Good reminder. Many kids are so caught up in the virtual world, where everything is safe and there are no real consequences, that they completely fail to recognize the pure evil that exists in the real world. And, it is not just kids; so many adults have it so safe and easy, overall, in a developed country like the U.S. that they do not recognize real threats when they are right there knocking on the door.
Too right about adults http://www.stuff.co.nz/taranaki-daily-news/news/9306104/Conned-drug-courier-freed-from-jail This woman was well educated, worked in a professional role and still got duped that her internet lover supposedly from the same city never had time to see her yet still wanted her to fly across the world for him. If she can get duped then I guess we all can.
Well, I mean it's an internet forum. No one meets up on those right? Dating sites are where people do that I think. And if people do meet up on forums, this is certainly a weird one to do that . It's all business
That kid was meeting people from a gaming site. He probably thought they were going to be friends. Life isn't always about sex.
What cracks me up is when I see posts on this forum from folks saying something like: "Hey DP friends, I will be in Amsterdam (or whatever city) this week, would you like to meet up and have a beer? Would be so cool to meet someone from here face to face! PM me!!". Stupid. Just stupid.
lol I have not seen these posts . but tbh, I don't see why it's so stupid. It's not like there are murderers on DP. And I'm sure the OP of those posts would be suspicious if someone JOIND DP just to PM him for the beer. Most likely, it will be existing members who PM him -- nothing wrong with that . I'm not saying existing members aren't criminals, but what are the chances they're just "waiting to kill other DP members" LOLOLOL.
LOL 18 and male -- I DON'T THINK he was going there for friendship but it depends. I guess if they talked a lot while gaming, then they were friends and were just meeting up. But no 18 year old boy is going to talk to someone on a gaming site for like 5 seconds then be eager to meet them irl unless sex or dating was involved . Trust meh XD
lol, I was telling my 17yo to get off the computer and go to bed recently and he said the guy he was talking to do told him to tell me to chill - "and he's not a kid, he's like a grown man with kids and everything" because that's so much better (not) Thank goodness my son is loud so I heard everything he said and therefore know the conversation was ok.
you're really lucky it's your son, and not your daughter. because I know you would've thrown the computer away if it was the latter
Aaah, that whole idea that young women are too stupid to keep themselves safe huh? misogyny at it's best.
no the difference is, your son was talking to the man as friends. if it was your daughter, he was looking for something else...
So you are saying female gamers can't game and communicate with male players? Or, I guess, that men can't play with gay male players? What a sad view of the world you have. Or maybe Islam is right to believe that all men are rapists waiting for an opportunity?
