I do not think that Rian is saying that at all...

This is a chat about "Unlimited" hosting.

i think DP should make it mandatory to show details below for who ever offers hosting on this site :-

    1. hosting offered server is dedicated or some reseller account
    2. server location
    3. max accounts per server

    these are just some examples
some strict steps are required on this site to save many people from scams

in WHT forums each and every review has to be verified by moderator , such steps will also help a lot :)

OK, this thread should really be sticky so people will know...

I've already seen on many other web hosting forums that Unlimited Space/BW has been forbidden from being advertised since it's 100% scam...

First off, there is no such thing as unlimited space, it's physically IMPOSSIBLE for anyone to offer unlimited space.

Also the lifetime plan... are you kidding me? You mean to tell me you paid one time for it and the guy who you bought it from will magically earn enough money FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE to keep the server(s) online? The lifetime plans are just a quick buck scam... you pay the "one time" fee and in few months (after enough suckers paid it) the server(s) will go offline... because it's simple mathematics to know that a one time fee cannot possibly cover the costs of the server(s) for lifetime...

Now, it's still very surprising to see so many people still falling into these traps, very sad... that's why I think DP should forbid the advertising of such things... but well thats just my personal opinion, don't hate me for it.

    Have a nice day everyone.

Hi, You are right, there should be some steps taken against the scammers,
I don't think anybody can tell how many accounts can be hosted on a server.;)

I am in agreement with this.

It would cut off alot of competition on these forums for both myself and other honest company owners...

The other part of things is that the forum members here and elsewhere are protected from being scammed.

I believe that not only should Unlimited hosting plans be banned from being advertised but also stupidly high for such low prices.

    Regards,
    Mike

    Hi gr8ecommmerce

Sorry, please do not get me worng. I agree with you and also saw the no-download prohibition in many TOS's.

I am just saying that still advertising unmetered hosting is not correct. Many people don't take the time to read and understand terms of services and do not see the fine print rules. Later they get their websites shut down.

I did this post so that others could discuss this and people be warned against 'Unmetered' hosting advertisements.

    Hi,
    Its OK, No Problem.

Many People do's the same thing, the tick that they accept TOS, and do not read it, then the result leds into account suspension or termination.

In most cases, free is not always free. There is always a trap somewhere.

Whatever, we should read their TOS,
and if you need any further details, feel free to contact them via chat or phone.

then u can get a simple idea about your host providers,

Someone dont allow download ANYTHING ( yes, thank god, mistakenly I click the TOS page, otherwise ill pay. believe it or not, I just entered my CC details and dono how I click there, and I got TOS. then n only I realize how important is a TOS for clients and service providers. )

someone dont allow only prono/werze type webs, but will allow to download our own licenced things.

so 1st we must read the TOS and chat with them to clarify it.

Remember : They are doing business. not the social service.
we need to be clear the facts that what we need. thast our duty. not their faults.

ops. sorry for my long reply. still I didnt find a proper hosting provider :( ( cos am not rich )

The biggest companies in the business offer unlimited space , Hostgator

Its basically to attract the people !

The space is quite large for any normal site to fill up , usually !

I wouldn't say so called unlimited web hosting suppliers are "scammers" and "unreliable", as one of the above posts mentioned, the biggest, most reliable web hosting companies which include:

    - hostgator.com
    - hostmonster.com
    - dreamhost.com

and many more hosting companies i've been with in the past, have always been reliable, and always speedy. There are companies whom are trying to make a quick buck, then run off with clients cash, but just saying, you cannot label them as all bad.

Even with that said, and they offered "unlimited" under fair usage space/bandwidth policy, and you started using tons of space and bandwidth, you'll use other resources such as CPU, etc, which usually in there terms of service, they'll most probably mention the % of CPU usage your allowed. If you go over, they'll simply suspend you due to the fact you're using to many other server resources and tell you to move to a VPS or Dedicated box.
