Be careful of expired domain!

I bought some list of PR 4 expired domains. At the time I took one domain, it was even indexed (no content though), but after I registered, it was de-indexed quickly and PR lost upon this update.

So my conlusion: be careful of expired domain, if backlinks are not strong , you might lose sth.

Happened to me couple of times. my suggestion. NEVER NEVER NEVER buy expired domain names for page rank IF the domain is less then 2 years old and doesn't have good linking.

One domain I got went from 3 to 0 in this update. WASTE of money.

My other domains that I own and promote went up. So try to get PR by link promotion. The PR software to find expired domains is JUNK. Sooner or later you will get hit by the google PR update.

cheaper to just buy the links and promote the site :)

I think buying expired domains for PR purposes is a waste of time. It's faster and cheaper to build links from scratch.

I don't agree. For dropped names, you can, at least, reference archive.org, and build up similar sites with pages that are linked to.

Yeah, that's what I've been saying a long time ago. PR rankings and links do not maintain , it changes regularly. An expired domain name is reset to a brand new domain name and only purchase it if you think the name is relevant and meets your needs.

you should keep the niche/related content the domain had before it expired...

This is a typical newbie mistake.

All those domains with PR or registered long years ago lost everything after they are dropped, but due to old Google cache they are displayed as with great potential before you find the sad true.

Only winners are those who profit selling those name for more than its is real value: the registrar price

Are a DMOZ or Yahoo listing worth anything?
