Be Careful: Idiots on DP Can get your Paypal Account Limited

I was negotiating selling my blog to a DP member recently, and this guy initally said that he can pay me by liberty reserve, epassporte etc but not by paypal. I did not agree to the sale because I think you can deal with scammers on paypal.

Now this guy finally agreed to pay me by paypal, and he sent me the payment twice for the sale from someone's account. Now because the amount became large, paypal blocked the payment saying that it may have been unauthorized. There were like 2 disputed transactionbs in my paypal overview because of those two blocked payments which paypal thought may have been unauthorized. I obviously did not part with my blog now tht the payment was blocked.

Within 4 hours another dispute was filed from the supposed friend of this DP guy claming a refund for unathorized use. Now I asked this guy what was he up to? He replied that his friend was an idiot and that he will again send me money from another paypal account. in the meantime I should refund those payments. I refunded.

Next day he sent me a paypal payment from another paypal a/c, which was in the name of a woman. For this one, paypal did not block the payment and I was releived. But I decided to wait a few hours before parting with my blog details as I was suspicious something might happen. After 6 hours there was a dispute filed from the sender that the payment was unathorized. Funds were blocked. Within the next 4 hours paypal sent me an email that due to recent 'controversial transactions' they are limiting my account.

I am so pissed. This guy said he is really sorry, and that he will send a paypal payment from his own account and there wont be any dispute this time. I told him to Shut the fuck up.

That's sad. I'd say the best way to deal (especially if the amount involved is large) is through escrow.

PS : Maybe you could argue with paypal that you are the victim of a scammer; your having refunded the earlier payments is testimony to the fact that YOU didn't cheat anyone...

what i don't understand is this, why would you accept payment by paypal from someone you don't trust? He obviously told you that he didn't want to send you paypal...he could have sent you liberty reserve which is a good non reversible payment processor. Looks to me like you made a stupid decision in accepting paypal from someone you don't trust when he clearly wanted to pay you by liberty reserve which he could not reverse.

Sure sounds like a scammer to me. Either that, or it was a honest mistake.

no, he is not an idiot, he IS a scammer
just think about it this way, what kind of friend would open a dispute when their friend already ask to use the account? Sometime I ask my friend to use her account to buy some stuff and she allow me to use it. Of course, when someone allow you to use their account, it mean they will have no problem with the transaction
so, the point is: he did send you unauthorized fund from other people account in hope that he can get your blog for free

It was obviously a lame attempt to take your blog without paying you a single cent. Fail. I've actually seen this happen numerous times before, it even happened to a friend of mine.

I am of the opinion that the buyer is surely a scammer as similar type of mistake can happen once or at max. twice but certainly not thrice.

Also, I do not understand what made OP to think that Paypal was more trusted for doing this transaction since the buyer had initially agreed to pay through LR. He should have directly accepted that offer...particularly since LR offers no charge backs!

The OP should report that user to DP, ASAP. So that we are all aware of that person. DP should have a sometihing like shit-list where such people are listed, till they come around, legally. Its just my thought.

Was he a new user of DP?
If yes then mostly I don't like doing any trade with a new member of DP. :)
Its good to do a trade with a settled and reputed member.

you should ideally be posting the DP nick of that guy... we'd rather know who the person in question is than make speculative statements about everyone new around here being a scammer.

Definitely a scammer. No one that is that stupid twice. I think he wanted you to transfer the domain and info over than he could have just run off with it and then it would have been a major head ache for you to get your site back.

FYI: I saw an ad somewhere on the net that stated you can buy multiple paypal accounts. ( maybe these accts where used)
