Be aware of coduk who owns Awesomehost.co.uk (used to known as cdkhosting.co.uk). My site has been down for more than 2 weeks, and I have not received any response from emails/PMs. The whole story is... I have purchased a hosting off coduk back to Dec 2008. (Link: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=10136818 ) I left a very positive feedback on Dec. 22, 2008 because he was giving support very promptly. The site then went down since Jan 13, 2009. The hosting website says that they will credit clients for 7 days. Until now, the website is still down. I have tried to PM him in DP, posted again and again in the sale thread and his new sale thread, emailed for the support. No response at all. It has been many many days already and I have not received any support or response at all. I added his MSN live support, but he has not added me so I can't see whether he gets online or not. I posted in the his new sale thread, and two other members posted questions. I asked in that thread if he is going to respond to my hosting problems. He answered the other two members' questions, but ignored mine. (New Sale Link on a different package: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1203593 ) Just an alert to the other potential clients out there.
Same here. I paid couple bucks for a reseller and never got any information or anything. Couldnt get it back either.
I think this might be useful: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=750745 Btw I am too a client of awesomehost
His server broke down, seems like he didn't have good enough data protection to make sure it was all safe. He's trying to sell the company now, run away from it, and set up a new one.
I think he sold the company already (after talking to him couple days ago). But sad to hear this happened, not awesome at all!
For all I know, Awesomehost.co.uk is a totally different company, but I find it hard to believe it is just a coincidence. But here is my story. I was a customer of Urdumasti.net - They did hosting, and offered reseller, and master reseller accounts. Things were ok... for the first 2 weeks. Then, it turned out, that from 8/10 computers I attempted to access my site from, was actually blocked by internet service providers, when I queried this, Mohammad Ushman (the owner of the company) said that I should use openDNS to get around the issue..... Thats all fine and good if I want to get in, but what about potential customers of mine.... how would they know to do the openDNS stuff? Anyhow... Then I upgraded from reseller to Master Reseller, I was able to get into the site via ip address, but for some silly reason, he had not set up the dns zones correctly, and as such, my domain name, which I purchased with him, did not work. The reseller account itself was sound. (Note - I had problems sending him the payment for this, because paypal declined it, and refused to let me send him money - He remedied this by making a new paypal - an action which on its own seems dodgy) Things only continued to get worse, I pretty much told him that I wanted it fixed, or I was going to ask for a pro-rata refund. No reply.... I had used 3 weeks of my 12 weeks purchased with Urdumasti.net when he e-mailed all of his customers announcing that he was closing the company, because he had found employment locally. He asked for 2-3 days to process refunds, 2-3 weeks passed, and nothing was heard from him ever again. I went to paypal, opened a dispute, for the $40 I paid him, they ruled in my favor, but were only able to recover about $3 of the 40. He must have emptied his account or whatever. When querying paypal, they say they do not offer payment protection of 'virtual' goods. Which means hosting is something you are allowed to be scammed on. Anyhow... as for what this has to do with Awesomehost.co.uk I have never signed up for any mailing lists regarding hosting, let alone for Awesomehost.co.uk, and yet I have received an e-mail from them, advertising their reseller accounts, and their hosting solutions that allow for warez and such - Something that Urdumasti had recently begun providing. So it just feels kinda like Mohammad might have had Awesomehost.co.uk at the same time, and just imported me from his client (scammed) list from Urdumasti.net. If anyone has any experiences like this, I would love to hear about it, and any possible resolutions you can suggest.
I got a email from him the other day, to my personal email account; I don't know how he got hold of that. He was trying to sell me Dedicated Servers, resold from OVH, I believe.
I'd suggest reporting him to his network provider as he is sending out unwanted e-mails which you did not opt-in to.
I too get the same email, trying to sell me dedicated server, but I just throw it into my spam box. I am awesomehost client too, but cancelled my shared hosting account with them before their sever had such problem. Following is partial email from awesomehost.co.uk:
PM me you trasaction ID, ill refund it. I believe i refunded the OP aswell. We did have backups, just they were complete sh*t, and becasue of the nature of the files, it took ages to do anything, just copying them onto another hard drive, then onto another server took hours at each point. There were 100s of GBs of data. Huh? I have no connections with that company. ¬¬ PM me, ill tell you your name, address and phone number, along with the service you ordered, and the day you ordered it. He did opt in to them.
I can say I support this guy because he did get my hosting back up finally!! He had a misfortune accident while moving servers cause they closed his first one down for some stupid reasons. Over and above all though he serves me well with support, I run my proxies through him, and they run fast and stuff, and he says hes reselling OVH server, and he tells you its OVH reseller, for ppl not from the UK , which is dam good, so don't complain. Also he only sends the emails to customers.. He is a good man just trying to make a living and he was just at the wrong place, at the wrong time, he did get almost everything back up so lets help him on his feet not flame him.
I agree with you vovo9191. The only my curiosity is this one. Is awesomehost.co.uk still run by the same person?
