I'm based in the UK and as far as I can see am always surved UK specific results. How can I see Google et al as a US based searcher might?
I have heard proxies mentioned but little knowledge. Could someone assist with step by step guidance?

    Many thanks

either proxies or a much simpler solution would be to search on hotbot.com or for instance netscape.com

other countries are more difficult and you need to use of proxies or ask people who live there

visit www.google.com then search and you get US-specific results.

For USA/international results, I'd advise you to use a USA based proxy as well as going on to Google.COM instead of .co.uk.

ninjababe.com would help you here. You can also search for USA proxies and configure them in IE for them to work (I dont know if proxies can be operated in FF or not)

Google.com redirects to your countries Google datacenter. So, when it does, there's a link back to google.com/ncr or something like that, when you land on it there you can access Google's US data centers.

go to google.us then it can't redirect to co.uk :)

If you go there you don't need to use a proxy
