One of the best ways is to post here and contribute to the discussion long enough to get signature privileges, then put some links in your signature. Plus, you'll be able to read all about link building in the Link Development forum here at ye olde DP.
Write about other blogs in your own blog and some will link back as well. You can also write articles and submit to a few directories such as eZineArticles.com
you can gain links through promoting sites. submit to different blog directories and have some link exchange to sites related to yours.
Quality backlinks is needed to get good SERP. It is better if you get lot of quality links from related sites by comment posting and directory submission. Better also if you would join forums related to your niche.
