    Hi,

I've been looking for some scientific answers to my question about taking bath with cold water in Winter but didn't get anything good. I'm posting this here to know what you guys think about this and if anyone knows about a good resource regarding this post here please.

I've been taking water with cold water the whole winter ( so far ) with very low temperatures (like -2, -3 Degree Celsius) and not sure if this has any negative effect on body/health. I personally don't think it has but I'm not a doctor.

    What you guys think?

If you are a man, it has obvious negative effects.

It also has negative effects in the skin.

EDIT: I've found it closes your pores.

Yes I'm a male. I would love to know what kind of negative effects it has (if you don't mind sharing :) )

I'm used to it so it's not a big problem for me anymore. Taking bath with cold water is real fun (seriously)

All I'm worried about is that sometimes my head becomes frozen (while taking bath) then I need to hold it for few seconds to get into normal position, rest it's not a big deal

Any useful information would be appreciated

Why would you bathe in cold water when there's hot water available? 0_o

Anyways, it won't harm you unless its freezing, then you risk having body parts die..

I think, at least to me, once my head gets frozen doing something, I don't keep doing it because it can't be a good thing. I don't know how you can stand doing that. Our hot water goes out in our building, I can't take a bath/shower when the water is that cold...it's too much.

And the male thing, I'm thinking he is referring to shrinkage, maybe? I don't know.

I saw some documentary about swimming in water during winter. According to it, swimming in very cold water (cca 0 degrees of celzius) can make your immune system stronger.

There was a man who trained swimming in freezen water and actually got hotter in colder water, although I think it was something to do with his genes.

    What kind of fun?
I can't see any fun in being cold. LOL
Also, it can stop your digestion and the blood flow to some organs.

Where are you getting all this from? Blood flow problems are caused by hypothermia and i doubt he spends that long in the bath. Obviously if you spend too long you will die but trust me, you will feel it coming. However as long as the person is used to the cold and feel comfortable spending a bit of time under a cold shower etc it should be beneficial.

Well i imagine on summer/hot spring days it won´t harm you, but in the winter specially with negative temperatures i think you´re risking having a cold/flue, i really don´t see how that may be good in anyway.

PS: i´m imagine that your healthy and have 15-45years old...if your older/younger than that range of age you shouldn´t do it at all
