udayns, Affiliate marketing comes in various forms. Search engine optimization, performance marketing (PPC) and email marketing. All have their own ways of reaching the crowds. i.e. getting traffic. Search engine optimization (SEO) is a long term strategy. You create a website full of useful information/content that user finds helpful. You then monetize your website around your topic of content. Performance Marketing also know as paid advertising is done using paid search. All major search engines like Google and Yahoo have sponsor listing (on the right side) when you search something. You have to pay to get your site up there. The pay model is based on bidding on a keyword. Say you have a soap product. You would bid on a keyword say "buy soaps" to get your site to show up on sponsor listing. When some searches "buy soaps" and clicks your ad you would get charged the bidding price which is determined based on many factors like, competition, niche, keyword, quality score of your ad and so on.

Be careful for asking questions like this. As you can see, many here want you to buy an ebook from them, or click their affiliate links, read their blogs, etc. But how do you really know these people are actually making any money? Why would you blindly follow them in the first place? My advice to you is to read as much as you can on forums, use the general consensus and common sense as your guide and don't believe every n00b with a signature link when they advise you what to read, chances are, they're not doing that to help YOU.
Ditto! I could copy post after post when people ask for help on affiliate marketing, or I could just put it in one site...like my blog Of course my blog has advertising. What site doesn't? But the posts are there free to read.
