    I've been taking in all this SEO stuff for the past few months and I'm ready to start actually performing some SEO on my site, since it's finally shows a PR. I've done my meta tags & title tags, but that's about it so far. Any suggestions on what I should work on next? Should I concentrate on getting links & adding content? From what I've been reading, content & links seem to be dominating SEO...Anyhow, any suggestions would be appreciated!

    Content and links... META tags are barely even worth the bandwidth they use (I started taking them out of new pages I make). Not even worth the effort for me to think of something to put in them. Although I'm not a hardcore SEO either...

    For on-page stuff, I look at TITLE and H1, and that's about it... the rest I just have content for the user.

    How long a list do you want? Here are somethings after a very quick look at your site.

    1. Your title needs help. The title is the single most important on-page or content element. Get rid of the welcome and put your #1 keyword phrase at the beginning.

    2. There should be more content on the home page. Tell everyone more about your product line and why they should buy from you. Of course you incorporate your keywords while doing this.

    Now content is good, but what really drives a site to the top of the rankings is Links. So

    3. Get a whole bunch more links. Try and get one way links if you can. Who hosts your site? Get them to put up a link under "sites we host". Can you get any of your suppliers to link to you? What about satisfied customers, do any of them have web site? Ask them for a link.

    I see you have a links page. Get really aggressive about reciprocal linking. Maybe you should consider a service like www.linksmanager.com to help you automate the process. BTW Shawn is running a banner for them on the forum, be sure to click on it if you decide to investigate or sign up.

    These are the thinks you have to do. Don't be shy. Just get at it and you'll do fine.

    And Shawn is correct about <H> tags. When you rewrite your on-page content be sure to break it up with lots of headings that use your keywords.

    The other thing we are all assuming is that you have done some extensive keyword research. If you haven't, do so immmediately. You need keywords for the anchor text in all those backlinks you are going to get.

    I have to wait for Christmas? But, my birthday is in June! Plus, I think that digitalpoints customers would find a link to frilly panties very useful...

    You'd be surprised. Some of Shawn's followers are happy without the frills. Do we get to see him modelling anything tho? Does anyone actually buy the ruffled anklet socks. Yeuck!

    Just some webbuilding stuff. Those mouseovers you have can probably be done using css rather than the antiquated javascript. if you have to use it, rewrite it and get the functions into a separate file.

    code like
    <p><font color="#FFFFFF" size="1">
    Code (markup):
    slows your page down for us dialup folk and hinders the bots.

    The 2 big things are the lack of CSS and the on-page javascript. I'd offer to do the work in exchange for stock but it'd take more than flash knickers to make me look that good :)

    Hi,
    nice site allow me some quick tips.
    Your pictures are too heavy - homepage jpg's at 41k each pics of products nice high definition png 131k - takes too long to load and is wasted bandwidth. You can slim them down significantly without loosing clarity (Fireworks).

    Content, yes more content and on the homepage dark pink on pink is hardly legible. You mention your domain on there why not use keywords and link directly to internal content?

    http://www.hustlerpanties.com/categories.php
    on the categories you have nice space to elaborate drop in celebrities if you can like "worn by C Aguilera at the whatever..."

    Links and content are very important but for an on line shop nothing beats testimonials - once there one wants them to buy.

    You could put in a slightly high risk agressive strategy by having a link page per category - heading - you are now leaving blah blah blah please bookmark ...the following links have been carefully selected blah blah blah...
    and link to great sites - that are of potential interest to the visitor.
    I always link first often use some of their material but send them a link info like
    we have linked and used some of your great material please acknowledge that this is of no problem and if you like please link back to us ... titel - url - text ..
    (overcomes any copyright issues)

    Hope it helps
    M

    Expat: Visited your site and at the bottom:
    I thought the same about the pics but decided that a) not an SEO issue and b) that the wait would probably worth it for the target market! Same with the colors, a usability and design issue but not SEO.

    Hi Expat

    Now, what type of expat are you? That's the big question :)

    Anyway, your site suffers from the same type of coding as hustler. Forget the fact that I don't like the colors (despite having similar colors on one of my sites) and the page is really full-on. But you view the code and there is alot of styles and fonts being set.

    These days when you look up CSS you're going to see alot about tableless design. That's well and good for the pros who understand it. For the guys just starting out you want a hybrid design. Still using tables to control the layout but using CSS to get the other formatting off your page.

    Consider this rework of a section of your page
    <style>
    body, table    { color: #cccc00; font-size: 11pt; background-color: #000066; margin-top: 2px }
    .navbar  { background-color: #000066; font-size: 11pt; border: solid 1px #cccc00; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, Geneva, Swiss; }
    .navbar TD  { text-align: center }
    .symptoms { FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: verdena; LETTER-SPACING: 1px;  }
    .caption { FONT-SIZE: 10pt; font-weight: bold; FONT-FAMILY: verdena;color: #00FF00}
    A:active {	FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #0000ff; TEXT-DECORATION: none}
    A:hover {	FONT-FAMILY: Verdena; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffcc; TEXT-DECORATION: underline}
    A:link {color: #cccc00; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; TEXT-DECORATION: underline}
    h1  { color: #00ff00; font-weight: bold; font-size: 18pt; font-family: verdena; text-align: center; word-spacing: 4pt; letter-spacing: 4pt }
    </style>

    A good conversion rate is fantastic, but doesn't relate to the topic of putting in practice basic seo suggestions - which is all about getting your site in order so you can get the visitors.

    The best SEO practice shouldn't interfere with the way you want to build your site, it should add to it, probably behind the scenes.

    I don't disagree - the point is that super seo pages with no unique content, dodgy fulfilment or problems on the strength of coding/SQL (I happen to have some of those) may be wasted and can actually alianate visitors.

    That's because seo isn't the "be all and end all" but merely one of the building blocks of a website and the website is a building block of your business.

    and a click on

    http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/?keywords=lingerie

    shows you he potential keywords people are actually USING

    these keywords need to be in your pages

    one page a group of matching words that fit the various produtcs you indlcude on one page,
    with pics named accordingly

    only a few product per page - always grouped so the match to a few keywords that make sense and sound good and make sense in use and combine a few of this HOT keywords to make all even more hot !

    sexy lingerie pics
    erotic lingerie on sexy models
    womens lingerie pictures
    lingerie 55,369.0 /day !! thats a cool potential :) !

    and somewhere
    view erotic lingerie on sexy models and order online ..

    "sexy lingerie gallery" - instead of "products" !

    you have to play with these hot words ..

    take 3-4 pages to experiment

    and RE-NAME your files pls
    like

    categories.php for example
    into
    sexy_lingerie_gallery.php

    instead of
    aboutus.php

    about_sexy_lady.php :) or so
    thats one more keyword ..
    - where is your courage - or are you an american girl ? or angel ? (US people sometimes are so shy they even are too shy to say what they want and even to tell teh search engine what they search ! instead of clear words they enter only "about oral" :)

    if you offer coffee then you have to say i offer coffee - if you sell lingerie in various forms and styles then name them precisely !!!!!
    sexy, hot, erotic, female, ... !

    .. come on - have a look at some european sites then you wake up and have the courage to offer in clear words what you sell. because people SEARCH what they want .. and Goooooogle can only find and forward it, if you clearly describe each item by the words used by all customers !

    or aren't you ? the one selling needs to always go ahead, wear it all, try it all, use it all, test it all, and BE it all - thats valid for all !

    There's a lot of stuff here.

    I'd also like to add to bold words in the first couple of sentences as well as the last couple of sentences of each post. Make sure those are the keywords you'd like to be ranked for.
