Let's say someone creates an affiliate site to forward to a merchant, if they forward them through one link, and the customer buys 4 items from the merchant, does the affiliate earn commission through all 4 purchases? Or just the one item they forwarded them through?

for all 4 items, if they were all purchased at the same time.
most merchants only pay for the 1st sale after each click, so depending on how the purchases happen, you'll get paid differently.

Yep, ours to in regards to the cookie. If you referred them, they don't have to pruchase something right away for you to get credit. Good programs should have a cookie length of at least 30 days IMO.
