So, you want to become an Internet Marketer, huh? Nothing easier than that but there are a few points you should contemplate on before starting out. Here, I'm gonna share some quick basic tips for IM beginners. Take what you want from this, but don't blame me for possible spelling mistakes 1) Decide on a niche and stick with it This is really important as writing articles and blog-posts and sales-pitches and whatnot can be a very exhausting task if you don't know jack sh*t about the niche or product you are writing about. So better start a site about a topic you are familiar with or about a product you actually use yourself. Eg. Personally, I would never start a site marketing online-casinos, just because I can't even spell the word Rulette For this quick example, i will pick "online dating" as my niche. I know, it's already highly saturated - but this only serves for demonstrating purposes. 2) Choosing the right keyphrase. For obvious reasons, it will be very hard to get high SE rankings using the term "online dating", so we'll have to search for better term. We will try to find a long-tail (3 to 5 words) keyphrase with a decent amount of monthly searches (about 1000 to 3000) on google AND with the lowest possible amount of competing sites (methinks, anything below 3 million is OK). To do this, head over to: https://adwords.google.com/o/KeywordTool Make sure you use "Match Types=[Exact]" (tick the box on the left sidebar and UNtick "Broad"). Enter your search term (in this case "online dating") and hit the search button. Let's look at the results, shall we? Ideally, we'd search for a 3-5 words phrase with a "LOW" competition.. you can click on each result and select "Show more like this" to narrow your search down. Well, after clicking through all this stuff, i came up with the phrase "online dating profile examples" - which gets 1600 monthly searches and has "medium" competition (less than 3 million results when searched for WITHOUT QUOTES) - let's go for it! 3) Choosing a domain name Your domain name should Incorporate some words from your keyphrase, but don't make it look too spammy. To avoid this, your domain should consist of max. 3 words (IMHO). No hyphens. It this case i'd probably go for something like "writedatingprofiles.com" or "datingprofileexpert.com" or something like that. If possible, always go for the .com as it makes the whole thing look more professional. Well, that's about it for part one - I hope you can use some of this information. To your success, Jay. Next up in part #2: Setting up your Website
I will definitely go more in-depth - I just need to structurize my stuff first. I have this huge wall of text i was going to post, but then i thought "well that's kind of an information overkill, I better split it into smaller parts".
Agreed. This is good info, but I would definitely take your time and go a bit more in dept to make it easier. Thanks for the post though!
Great post! It's so easy for newbies to get confused and overwhelmed with lots of information and end up forgetting the basic rules, stick with the one niche all the way through to the end!
