    I'm new to this SSL stuff but I was wondering how in the heck do I upload a file so it shows on my https pages?

    Do I change something when I'm FTPing or is there something I do to the files after they're uploaded?

    Depends on the host.

    Sometimes there's a http folder as well as a https folder. Others call it 'secure'.

    In your FTP client go up one from the www or html_docs folder and see your options there. Should be somewhere there.

    PS some don't provide this functionality so you might want to check with them. Also whether it's your own certificate or a shared one by the host or even third party.

    Let me see...

    We have;

    • .htpasswords
    • etc
    • mail
    • public_ftp
    • public_html
    • tmp
    • www

    It's not looking like 1 of them is it? :confused:

    EDIT :

    I bought the certificate and installed it myself. When I asked my server hosts this was their reply;

    Helpful eh? :)

    Does seem so... Give them a ring!

    BTW Clara where we host offer it this way.

    You can prepend any of yuor own urls like www.mydomain.co.uk/file.html with https://secure.host.co.uk/www.mydomain.co.uk/file.html which will make it go over a secure connection via their certificate.

    Not a nice way but if it's not for the front end it's fine.

    That would be useful for half of what I need. When a customer clicks the checkout button it sends them to HSBC who send information back secretly to a secure https page as well as the customers https page.

    I'd like to get this working now that I've bought the certificate, got a CSR for my domain, take a week to install the stupid certificate because the wrong CSR was supplied. lol.

    I've got a reseller account.

    I've contacted them twice now and I'm waiting on their reply. They're usually pretty fast at replying but I sent them my problem yesterday and still no reply. I figured I would see if any of the DP gurus could help me.

    How far done is the HSBC project? Got the Java shite to work?

    Barclays reports back behind the scenes as well but uses http authentication. I do use the weird url to host an image used at check-out/payment processing so all content is over httpS and customer doesn't get any weird notifications that might scare them off.

    I also use the funny url for the back-end. Makes me wonder... Can we rewrite https urls if it's on the host's domain?

    I'm fairly confident that the HSBC ordeal is nearly over. I've been able to make contact with a couple of guys who have been able to install it and have been extremely helpful with telling me what parts of the Integration guide are totally useless and correcting the advice the HSBC technical team have given me. Once I get this https stuff sorted out I'll be able to see the info that the HSBC servlet is passing back to me and I'll find out if it is actually working lol.

    BTW It turns out that it shouldn't be Java at all, but .e files. Yet another thing that the technical staff have told me that has been wrong.

    I noticed that image thing you could do on another website. I think you can use it for paypal as well.

    Just got his reply from my hosts;

    Does this not seem a bit dodgy? It's a first for me so I wouldn't know.

    Should be alright. Just use some clever code to make sure people don't browse the https pages unnecessarily, i.e. redirect to http where possible.
