For pagerank in google, do backlinks need unique IPs? Say you comment a bunch on a site like GizModo with awesome pageranks and you hop on 20 of their PR6 pages by somehow popping your link in a comment or something on them... do all 20 of these help you or only 1 because its a single site? How many quality PR5+ backlinks do you need for a PR4 or PR3? Does a higher pagerank help with getting a site higher on google for a search? Thanks for taking the time
-Unique ips are always good. -posting links on high pr sites can be good, but be careful, many will remove it as spam, and some use "no follow" tags making your efforts useless. - 1x pr5 should give you pr3 - higher page rank sites will not rank high purely because of their pagerank, it is a partial factor only good luck
thanks! can you check the source code for no follow sites somehow? if you have 4 x PR5 from the same domain is that equal to 4 unique PR5s? EDIT: Is pagerank done by IP or specific webpage? (like if you nestle in a backlink somewhere in a PR5 site, does it count as a PR5 backlink or is it based upon the specific page where the backlink is found?)
All you should worry about is your domain position on a google search, and PR doesn;t have much to do with that. To achieve higher positions you need to get quality back links, the linking domain should contain relevant content. Links from the same domain won't do much for you, specially if they have the same anchor text.
PR does effect SERPS...If you read the Google guidelines, this is stated. Separate IP's help but are not essential. Focus on building high quality backlinks and have excellent content and the rankings will come.
thanks, and one more question: if you get a backlink on like google.com/woahdude.html or something, does the PR of that backlink depend on the PR of woahdude.html or google.com?
The Pr is always counted from the page your link is on. The best way to check for nofollow is the Firefox nofollow plugin (searcg google for it). Google will count all links to your site, but give less value if they are all from the same ip, as it is easier to get these. 1xPR5 link will only give you PR3 (or whatever) if you don't have a lot of outgoing links. Imagine a bucket hung over a garden tap. The bucket has a hole in it. This hole represents how many sites you are linking to from your site. The bigger the hole (more sites you link to). Without turning the tap on more (getting more links to your site) more water (PR) will leak and the lower your PR value will be. PR only has little value these days. Backlinks are most important to get high positions in google. However PR gained is a direct result of getting backlinks, so high positioned sites often have high PR, but not always. My opinion is that PR does have value. The most important value is that more people will link to you when you ask for link exchanges if you have a higher PR. That is the reason I like to have a good PR on my sites.
Inbound links are what you need. They are links to your site. Outbound links are links that you place on your site. Either from link exchanges or if you find something useful to link to. They help the search engines know what your site is about. What you link to gives a good indication of your site niche. Don't put too many outbound links on your site.
Yes, links from different IP's will always be appreciated by Google. If you have a higher pr, it doesn't mean that you will rank high as per search rank in Google. Because there are sites / pages having pr value= 5/8, But they are not in list even in first 50 sites.
Yes, there is a process by which you can check whether the code is do follow or no follow. To check this you can check the page source or you can also use " robots.txt " just next to your url. If any one does have any other Idea then please share. I love to learn. Thanks.
