Basic Adwords Strategy?

    Would this strategy work?

I have a content site that revolves around computers. Lets say I want to promote the site through Adwords by making ads for specific articles on my site.

For example, let's say I have an article about installing a hard drive. I search "installing a hard drive" on google and see no ads. I then go to my Adwords account and ad the phrase: "installing a hard drive" to my keywords list and set the CPC to $.01. Then I will get targeted traffic, and give that targeted traffic what it is looking for.

Does this strategy make sense or is it just a stupid waste of time?

That strategy would drive traffic to your site, yes. If you're trying to make money off of those people, nobody can say for sure whether that will work. Also, because google's greedy they may not allow you to set your bid at .01 per click, you may go "inactive for search" and have to bid a higher price than you are willing to pay.

If you are planning to place ad's on the landing page, then its fine. Make a detail plan on how much you are spending in adwords in bringing the traffic and hoe much you are earning through the ad's displayed in your page.

It will work out. If you have good knowledge in participating in affiliate programs.

Greed plays no part in disabling .01 clicks.

This is not a stupid waste of time. Infact, this is how many people are making lots of $$$ off their sites. They invest a small amount, say $ 1000 in their Adwords every month and earn a figure more than the actual amount they invested, say $ 3000, and hence make profit.

Also, Adwords is also another way of driving targetted traffic to the site, provided you target niche keywords (and you'll have to bid less for them) :)

Alrighty, I'll give it a whack some time. But now after going through this paid method, I'm starting to appreciate SEO more. After SEOing my site a bit more, I'll take a look at Adwords again. Seems like fun :D

    Thanks!

Do you actually sell something om your site or are you hoping these people click AdSense when they get to it?

If you sell products, it isn't always profitable as you are not prequalifying your customers.

If it is for AdSense, it is perfectly fine provided your article doesn't contain ads that pay .01 per click.

Not a bad way mate, just be careful with adwords. I left mine without budgeting correctly and nearly had heart failure...

Yeah, I've come across a few horror stories here and on other forums. I'm just going to go organic, build up some funds with Adsense, and work with that. I'm pretty broke right now. He he.
