I would like to set up a BANS store with a blog to add some relevant content. My question:

Is it better to set up the blog as the main index page at MYWEBSITE.com and have the blog link to the BANs store at MYWEBSITE.com/BANS

    or

Is it better to have the BANS store as the main index page instead at MYWEBSITE.com and have it linked to the blog at MYWEBSITE.com/blog

    Any input is much welcomed.

In my past experience, I've had trouble 'selling' on blogs. It comes down to readers vs. buyers coming to your site. I've had much more success targeting 'buyers'. I think if it was my blog, I would attempt the later and have the store as the focus, and provide a blog.. but best would be to bring in some blog posts in the home page of your eBay store.

    Hope this helps..

That would be my first choice as well. Thanks for the input, hanji.

    I'd do the second.

What you can do is, blog about product news/information then link to the store at the end of the article. Once you have abotu 20 of blog posts, you can submit the blog to blogs and RSS directories. The backlinks will help boost the SEO traffic to your store.

    Do update us your results.

What I'm doing with a site I can't get to yet to do a BANS, is to set up a WordPress blog as www.mysite.com/blog to take advantage of some content that I can feed into it. This will get the site going, and I can get some backlinks going for the blog.

Then, when I'm ready to do a BANS, I'll do it as www.mysite.com. There should be no difficultly getting that and the subpages indexed, and, hopefully, the blog will pass some juice to the main site when that part of it is launched.

i would go with phpbay pro over bans. They have an awesome wordpress plugin that makes it so easy to use with a blog. blus it's 1/2 the price. I made http://fenderbluesjunioramps.com with it...

I'm using both BANS and phpBay. Each has it's advantages.
